Kylie, 15 years old and pregnant in Helena, Montana

Kylie arrived at our home 6 months ago; she was 15 years old and 6 months pregnant. Her Mom watched Kylie suffer from severe depression and out of control behavior and realized that love was not enough. Kylie needed a place that could help her begin a new phase in her life, especially now that she was going to have a baby.

At 15 years old Kylie was just a child herself. She needed a place to heal from the past and repair her young life, away from her world of negative influences and destructive lifestyles.

She needed to learn to accept love and give love. Most importantly she had to learn how to parent her baby when it arrived, and there wasn’t much time. Babies don’t wait for their parents to “be ready”; they simply arrive, ready to be cared for.

Kylie’s parents were thrilled to find Florence Crittenton. “We simply couldn’t find anywhere that would give her the specific therapeutic care she needed. Then we found Florence Crittenton”. When they came to visit, they immediately saw the nurturing, loving philosophy of care, which is reflected through our bonding and attachment therapy, aimed at both mother and baby.

“We had complete confidence that this was the right place for Kylie. We were desperate to find help for her and for our grandchild. Florence Crittenton is working wonders with her.”

Kylie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 3 months ago. She will continue to stay at the home for at least the next 6 months where we can work with her in a safe, loving environment. In Kylie’s words, “I don’t know what I would have done if it hadn’t been for Florence Crittenton. It’s been really hard, but I’m so glad I came. I knew I had to change but I didn’t know how. The staff is like a big family and with their help I am dealing with some of my problems from the past.« Back
