About Us - The Crittenton Family of Agencies

Crittenton Services Inc. – Wheeling, West Virginia

west logoNestled in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Crittenton Services’ mission is to “embrace children and families in need with nurturing services to help them achieve self-sufficiency.” Established in 1895, as shelter for ”wayward” women in crisis, Crittenton has evolved during its 100-plus years, continually growing and changing. Today, with three programs, the agency strives to meet the needs of its communities.

Crittenton’s Residential Services, supports up to 42 girls and young women, who are struggling with severe behavioral health issues, may be abusing drugs or alcohol, and may be pregnant or parenting. Utilizing a gender-responsive treatment model, “Butterfly Becoming,” the program guides them as they engage in a process of healing, self-discovery, and transformation.

Wellspring Family Services, was created to provide home-based case management, parenting and counseling to girls and young women transitioning from the residential program. Today, serving 11 counties in northern West Virginia, Wellspring is a fully accredited, community-based behavioral health program, providing in-home and outpatient treatment and therapy to more than 750 families annually.

Cradles to Crayons Child Care Centers was created to provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment to the children of mothers in residential care, while allowing them to continue their education and participate in therapeutic programming. Now open to the public, this program is available for children from infancy through elementary school at three different locations.
