Florence Crittenton Services – Jackson, Michigan

jackson michigan logoFlorence Crittenton Services (FSC), a nonprofit organization, has been serving the Jackson County, Michigan, for the past 87 years. FCS began as a home for pregnant teens and for the first 40 years, its sole mission was to provide a loving environment for pregnant young women who had been ostracized from their families and friends.

But as society changed, so did Florence Crittenton Services. In the mid-seventies, more and more young women began to keep their babies, and not give them up for adoption. FCS worked with them to ensure that they continued their education, learned job skills and parenting skills, and developed tools necessary to live on their own with their babies.

FCS continues to evolve and add services to meet the needs of young people and families in Jackson County. Beginning in the late 1990s, it began designing programs to meet the needs of young fathers, homeless teens and families with adolescents who were struggling with life challenges. Today, we have expanded our services and programs, and we are still passionate about providing a safe and nurturing home for pregnant young women. FCS serves more than 650 teens and their families annually.
